Thanks for the response Dinis. Only copped on after I posted that the posts probably reffered to UK residents.
Have since come across http://www.entropay.com who issue virtual electron cards. The virtual cards have worked with Ryanair in the past, but not sure if Ryanair still accepts them.
I’m not sure, but I’m guessing that if you are not a UK resident, you can’t really apply for an account unless you go to a branch personally. Does anyone know of any other process?
I’ve just applied for a Card on line. Thanks a lot for the tip as I would never have found out where to get one otherwise. I book a lot of flights with Easyjet and Ryanair so a Visa Electron card will make a big difference! I’ll buy you a beer out of my first savings. Cheers
After having day light robbery preformed on me from Ryanair [Yep those card charges for not having a Visa Electron Card], and for this to not happen next time…
I managed to now [as of 09/09/09] get my Halifax EasyCash “Visa Electron” through the post! Just to confirm that it was done online and took approx 2 and a half weeks!,
I must say i was slightly nervous because I was expecting a Visa Debit Card but what came in the envelope didnt disapoint me! [Thankyou Halifax]
Now I can insert cash into the Visa Electron acount from one of my other accounts [another bank] via Online banking, just before booking my tickets for next time!
Electron cards arrived in post this morning, only problem, my wife and myself both received cards although I only applied with her as 2nd user
but then we both received 2 cards each!!!
Got my Halifax Easycash card (see above) and used it successfully with Ryanair. Great tip, many thanks.

Trying to apply online, but running into problems…
When applying online, do you tick the box UK resident?
What do you enter in the Post Code Box ?
Thanks
Paddy
Hi there,

Cheers!
Just applied for Easycash. Looks promising. I did not like the 1.5% on the Post Office pre-pay card.
Hi Ed,
if they accept your application, it’s likely they’ll issue a Visa Electron card. I have just got mine 2 weeks ago!
Cheers!
HI TRIED TO GET A ELECTRON CARD TODAY AT HALIFAX AND THEY SAID THEY NO LONGER DO THEM
Hi there,
have you asked for an Easycash account?
It would be really bad if they didn’t issue Visa Electron cards any more…

Hi there!
Great news! I have applied for one at Halifax, but so far no news. Have you ever tried the pre-paid ones?
Cheers!
