called into my bank recently (barclays) and enquired about visa electron. i was told my visa connect card was the same as visa electron . when i went online that evening to book holiday flights for the family, i discovered ryanairs website disagreed with my banks opinion. i still purchased flights as the cost had halved in price but incurred £40.00 in charges. i complained to barclays about the misinformation and am now attempting to get reimbursed for the £40.00 in charges

I’m sorry to hear that. I have a Barclays account myself and I was tremendously disappointed with the fact they don’t offer Visa Electron cards anymore. As you can see, there are some other options. The prepaid cards are not too bad for an ‘instant’ solution, or you can always open a new account in one of the banks that do offer Visa Electron cards.
